Whistling past the graveyard


Mike's Advanced Strategy MBA class, focused on corporate turnaround, just finished. This semester, the company under analysis was Pier 1 Imports, the home furnishings retailer. Indeed, understanding the causes of decline and possible routes to right-siding the business had its fair share of challenges. But the collective insights gathered over the past 10 weeks have provided for a much clearer picture of what Pier 1's management needs to do going forward. The real treat? Hearing management present its Strategic Plan entitled "A New Day". Let's see where Pier 1 will be a year from today...
